Behind the Scenes: Celebrating the backbone of GIND UK on Administrative Professionals Day

Administrative professionals are often the unsung heroes who keep businesses running smoothly with their organisational prowess, problem-solving abilities, and dedication.

As we mark Administrative Professionals Day, we shine a spotlight on these vital team members who manage countless details behind the scenes. We caught up with Ingrid Bedoya, Office Administrator at GIND UK, to learn more about what administrative support truly entails in our dynamic industry and how her role contributes to the company’s success:

1. Can you tell us a bit about your role as Office Administrator at GIND UK? (What does a typical day look like for you?) My day is quite exciting. I try to plan in advance the tasks I need to accomplish, but it often ends up filled with new priorities. Typically, I begin my day by reviewing ongoing work, identifying new tasks to tackle, and closing out any that can be completed. I also engage in problem-solving, collaborating with colleagues and clients, and ensuring that I meet both short-term and long-term goals in my duties. I am constantly learning new skills, developing new capabilities, and addressing challenges.

2. What originally drew you to this line of work and how did you end up at Integral Cradles? I have been in constant interaction with people working in this sector for years. Thanks to someone with extensive knowledge in the field, I was given the opportunity to explore a completely new world filled with opportunities, challenges, and lessons. This experience has made me increasingly fascinated by what I do and what I learn each day.

3. How important is strong admin support in helping you manage complex projects? I believe that the administrative role within a company is not only important but essential. To ensure its effectiveness, several factors must be considered. These include fostering good communication among employees to organise work in an agile and efficient manner that aligns with both the company’s established standards and the needs of clients.

4. On Administrative Professionals Day, what would you say to the admin teams who help keep everything running behind the scenes? The key to ensuring that things run smoothly is to have a team that shares common interests and motivation. We should view our workplace as a second home, where we give our best effort at all times and strive to achieve both individual and group objectives.

5. What do you think makes someone great in a support or admin role in construction or project work? There are skills and abilities that develop and improve over time that clearly influence excellence in managed support. But there are virtues that aid in this process, such as perseverance, motivation, discipline, and the desire to improve.

6. Any tips for staying organised and on top of so many moving parts? Creating a list of priorities and tasks allows us to visualise what we need to accomplish in the short, medium, and long term. This preparation is crucial for managing upcoming responsibilities. However, an even more important factor is having a strong team with good communication and support.
