GIND UK and Integral Cradles make a splash at Canary Wharf Contractors Fund Dragon Boat Race 2024

GIND UK and partner company Integral Cradles – which, together, provide whole-lifecycle façade access solutions, have showcased their team spirit and competitive edge by competing in the Canary Wharf Contractors Fund (CWCF) Dragon Boat Race 2024.

The event, held on Thursday, July 25th at the Docklands Watersports and Sailing Club, saw teams from various companies participate in an exciting day of racing, camaraderie, and charitable support.

This year’s race continued the tradition of being a fun yet fiercely competitive event, with teams of ten paddling in 30ft dragon boats. The Dragon Boat Race is an ancient and captivating sport that requires no previous experience and welcomes participants of all genders, ages, and abilities. The event provided fun for everyone involved, both competitors and spectators alike.

The CWCF, established over two decades ago, aims to raise funds for local and national causes. To date, the fund has raised over £3 million to a range of charities, including Demelza, London Air Ambulance, St Joseph’s Hospice, Spread-A-Smile, The Lighthouse Club, Coney, Cardboard Citizens, and Construction Youth Trust.

This year’s race continued this tradition, with participating teams raising an impressive total of £20,500, surpassing last year’s contributions.

The race’s format featured two heats per team, with up to four boats racing simultaneously. The fastest teams advanced to the head-to-head finals, making for an exciting conclusion to the event. The day was complemented by a BBQ and cash bar, ensuring an entertaining experience for all attendees.

Discussing his team’s participation, Kevin Walton, Managing Director of GIND UK and Integral Cradles, said:

“It was great to take part in this year’s CWCF Dragon Boat Race and I’m proud of our team’s effort and dedication. Their enthusiasm and teamwork reflect the spirit of Integral Cradles and GIND UK, which both appreciate the importance of giving back to the community via charitable causes. We had a great day and look forward to contributing to further events in the future.”

GIND UK was represented by a talented group of team members from both GIND UK and Integral Cradles – working together as always.

GIND UK and Integral Cradles are already looking forward to next year’s race and the opportunity to support more charitable endeavours.
