GIND UK manages access solution at Principal tower

GIND UK has secured a contract with Principal Place Residential Development Ltd. to deliver fully comprehensive BMU maintenance at Principal Tower in London.

Located on the border of the City of London and Shoreditch, Principal Tower is new 50-storey luxury tower providing a total of 273 apartments offering exceptional views across London. The project also includes two other buildings of shared ownership and social housing, connected by a single-storey multi-use building.

The new maintenance contract follows the design and installation of a full specialist access solution by GIND UK’s sister company Integral Cradles.

Integral Cradles was appointed by main contractor Multiplex Construction Europe Ltd. to provide three building maintenance units (BMUs): one static machine with a maximum reach of over 22 metres; and two tracked machines with a four-metre maximum reach. All have an auxiliary hoist with 600kg capacity.

Design and planning were key for this project, as the high level static BMU was to be installed on a flat, unprotected roof. The lower level BMUs were designed to traverse within limited space available on the roof.

Both Integral Cradles and GIND UK have a strong commitment to the highest environmental standards, having pledged to be become Net Zero Carbon businesses by 2026. Their work was therefore extremely well aligned to the construction of Principal Tower, which was given a BREEAM 2011 Offices ‘Excellent’ rating.
