GIND UK secures maintenance contract for Chapter London Bridge BMU installation

GIND UK, a leading UK specialist in façade access maintenance, has been appointed to provide ongoing maintenance services for a new building maintenance unit (BMU) at Chapter London Bridge, following its installation by sister company Integral Cradles on behalf of MACE.

The Chapter building is a 39-storey tower comprising a new purpose-built 905-bed student accommodation asset located near London Bridge Station. The development represents a significant addition to the area’s student housing provision and features a complex façade requiring specialist maintenance expertise.

The BMU installation, completed by Integral Cradles in just two days, is specifically designed to navigate the building’s complex façade, running on 23 metres of twin tracks and featuring a maximum reach of 23.25 metres. GIND UK will now ensure this sophisticated system continues to operate safely and efficiently throughout the building’s lifecycle.

The BMU system under GIND UK’s care includes several key features:

  • An auxiliary hoist unit with a 1,000kg capacity, providing additional lifting capability for maintenance tasks
  • A twin baby cage cradle for flexible and safe access across all areas of the façade
  • A ski arrangement to tackle the undulations of the façade with ease

Discussing the maintenance contract, Kevin Walton, Managing Director of GIND UK and Integral Cradles, said:

“GIND UK is delighted to be providing maintenance services for this sophisticated BMU system at Chapter London Bridge. Our expertise in maintaining complex façade access equipment ensures that the system will continue to operate at peak performance throughout its lifecycle. This appointment reinforces our position as a leading specialist in façade access maintenance and our commitment to delivering exceptional service for high-profile developments.”

The Chapter London Bridge contract represents the first of two maintenance agreements GIND UK will provide for MACE and their client in the area. The second BMU system at The Edge, a neighbouring site, is scheduled for installation by Integral Cradles late 2025, with GIND UK also appointed to maintain that equipment.

The collaborative approach between Integral Cradles and GIND UK provides clients with a seamless whole-lifecycle solution, from initial design and installation through to ongoing maintenance and support.

Kevin added:

“We’re pleased to be supporting both Chapter London Bridge and The Edge projects and look forward to delivering the same high standards of service throughout the lifecycle of both installations.”
