York Place, Wandsworth

Overview

As part of the Winstanley and York Road estates regeneration, ‘Coda’ (block C) is the striking centrepiece of the development so far, which will host the new headquarters for the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), a public promenade and new, modern homes. All apartments have cooling facilities to create pleasant living environments, but the building also has a central energy centre and roof mounted photovoltaic panels to meet RAD’s sustainability goals.

Integral Cradles, the installation partner of GIND UK, was contacted at a late stage to design a façade access solution that would satisfy the building’s requirements, whilst staying within loadings allowed for during the earlier design. An abseil system was installed for the lower level of the building, whilst on roof level, a powered cradle with a ‘baby cage’ was supplied. Both employ davit bases around the perimeter of the roofs with moveable davits to reach agreed areas of the façade.

GIND UK is currently maintaining the equipment for CODA Management.
